There are no months in this calendar.  Each season has nine weeks.  Defining a  specific date is performed by identifying the week of the season and the day of the week..  The numbers one through nine are rendered:  yi, er, san, sul, wu, leo, chee, bah, jo.  Therefore, the last week of winter is Tungchi-jo; the first week of Spring is Joonchi-Yi.

Gergans -  Gergans are modeled after Horned Toads common to the Sonoran desert. This table kept me straight when dealing with proportions.

Wrong War Languages

The Newborn speak a tongue common to all the races, the other races each maintain their own language.

The Elph language – common to all the Shades - is simple Wade-Giles Mandarin Chinese. Duorph, Coblan, and Phari languages use offsets from the Mandarin Chinese as follows. The offsets are not always directly transferable so license is taken wherever necessary.:

Duorph Offsets

a  = e

b = d

h = k

n = q

t = w

z = c

e = i

c = f

j = l

p = r

v = x

i = o

d = g

k = m

q = s

w = y

o = u

f = h

l = n

r = t

x = z

u = a

g = j

m = p

s = v

y = b

e.g., the Mandarin wode mingdz [my name] becomes yuge poqe – the dz not translating directly into Duorph.

Coblan Offsets

A = U

B = Z

H = G

N = M

T = S

Z = Y

E = A

C = B

J = H

P = N

V = T

I = E

D = C

K = J

Q = P

W = V

O = I

F = D

L = K

R = Q

X = W

U = O

G = F

M = L

S = R

Y = X

e.g., the Mandarin wode mingdz [my name] becomes vica lemcy.

Phari Offsets

a  = I

b = f

h = l

n = r

t = x

z = d

e = o

c = g

j = m

p = s

v = y

i = u

d = h

k = n

q = t

w = z

o = a

f = j

l = p

r = v

x = b

u = e

g = k

m = q

s = w

y = c

e.g., the Mandarin wode mingdz [my name] becomes zaho quurkzed – the dz not translating directly into Phari.
